I think when it comes to power in the form of one rep max the type of muscle fiber matters too. I know that people that have a higher proportion of fast twitch muscle fibers are usually more powerful lifters. In addition to muscle attachments and skeletal differences mentioned above. In high school I had a very high vertical naturally and was pretty fast. I could naturally lift heavier in the bench and curls than guys that were a lot bigger than me. I’m now 41 and just started lifting (been 18 years since I lifted last) and age has happened unfortunately but I am progressing at least.

I definitely agree with Sully that it was one of those lifts that could get 2 whites 1 red or 2 reds 1 white, but IMO it wasnt in the category "definitely not a good lift". I am happy for Ben he got that record and I think better to white lite slightly questionable lift like that than red light a definitely good lift a rob the lifter of a record (like what happened in WRPF with Aleksey squat, here: https:///r/powerlifting/comments/79o4i7/aleksey_nikulin_360_kg794_lbs_squat_wr_attempts/ ) while this abomination of a lift remains the official WR https:///r/powerlifting/comments/6tc8er/dallas_norris_new_all_time_world_record_squat/ .

The fourth is a bit different.  The rectus femoris is essentially the inverse of the hamstrings.  It inserts on the tibial tuberosity via the patella just like the rest of your quads, but it originates on the anterior inferior iliac spine of the ilium (just above the hip), meaning it can both flex the hip and extend the knee.  However, much like the hamstrings had a longer internal moment arm at the hip than the knee, making them more effective hip extensors than knee flexors, the rectus femoris has a longer internal moment arm at the knee than the hip, making it a more effective knee extensor than a hip flexor.
